Since the month of May was Mental Health Awareness Month; we saw in our daily lives how children struggled with the irmental well-being, while everything moved online due to the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic. Centre for Social Research, took a step towards talking about our children’s mental health and organised a TweetChat - "Impact of Positive Conversations on Mental Health of Children".
The TweetChat was followed by a Youtube Series by Mental Health Specialists. We are grateful to like Dr. Samir Parikh, Ms.Kamna Chhibber, Ms. Mimansa Singh Tanwar, Ms. Varkha Chulani and Dr. Iram Ahmedia. The experts talked about the mental well-being of all age groups amidst the pandemic, and the importance and impact of positive conversations on mental health. They further touched uponthe challenges faced especially by children and the youth while living amidsta grave health crisis. CSR’s initiative with the Tweetchat and Youtube Series was towards creating a hospitable environment towards talking about Mental Health. |

Our Vision is to build the capacities of individuals, communities, and institutions for creating a humane, equitable, and gender-just society.
During this quarter, under our COVID-19 Relief, Response & Recovery we have been providing relief services to Women and Children, youth, Frontline Healthcare Workers, and other Community Members. We have conducted several capacity-building pieces of training on gender sensitization and the prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace. To spread awareness and reduce the spread of Covid-19, we have introduced "Training of Trainers" sessions for the Youth champions in Delhi and Haryana.
We believe that learning should not stop even during these uncertain times therefore we continued our Skill Department program in the form of online sessions. We have successfully trained 100 girls and boys in this quarter. We are happy to share that 60-70% of trainees have been placed successfully.
CSR strives towards creating a violence-free environment for everyone. CSR’s Crisis Intervention team is the nodal agency of the National Commission for Women (NCW) in providing E-counselling to survivors of gender-based violence. We have an established network of 30 NGOs to exchange information and provide survivors and victims' a comprehensive range of services.
There is no vaccine for the climate crisis but hope. Our Gender, Water & Climate Change Team's goal is to promote gender-effective and sustainable approaches to combating climate change. However, due to lack of appropriate digital support to connect with the impacted population and lockdowns throughout India did create technical and logistical problems. Yet, the department has effectively shifted its work online and completed the projects with the assistance of local members including online meetings at both state and national levels.
The Covid-19 pandemic pushed children to use multiple digital technologies consistently. The use of online spaces has been accelerated, which has further opened up the possibility of all kinds of online safety issues. CSR, in collaboration with Facebook, conducted Online Safety trainings to ensure that students learn and understand the power of being positive online, how to identify and combat dangerous situations, digital wellness, the importance of reaching out, how to spot fake news, and understand the damage it can do and many more skills and tools essential to keeping safe.
For our project with Twitter - Digital Citizenship & Civic Participation for Gender Equality, we have been conducting online webinars with college students to make them understand digital citizenship & how to make online spaces more safe & inclusive.
Our Social media team is highly focused on bringing important issues to the forefront through a diverse set of content and campaigns. For instance, we organize regular #TweetChats on contemporary issues, disseminate relevant updates regarding Covid-19 & promote vaccine importance busting some myths regarding vaccination.
We understand how a person’s mental well-being is as important as their physical well-being and since the month of May was Mental Health Awareness Month, we at the Centre for Social Research focused on children’s mental health and organised #TweetChat on - Impact of Positive Conversations on Mental Health of Children". Hope to get your feedback on the newsletter. As always, we thank you for your support.
