CSR previously worked on a project called “Meri Shakti Meri Beti (MSMB)”; which aimed to educate communities and individuals to put an end to sex selective abortion in Delhi and two districts of Haryana, both in urban and rural areas. The successful response from the project eventually assisted us in 2015 to be declared as the Nodal agency under the BBBP scheme in Ambala, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, Jhajjar & Mahendragarh districts of Haryana by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India.

After the completion of the Sports for Girl’s project, CSR once again initiated its work in the community in the same five low sex ratio districts of Haryana in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy from August 2018.

The team first went for a rapport building meeting with the all the district appropriate authorities including the Women and Child Department and Health Department. Here the team collected the Child Sex Ratio Data from both the departments to identify and focus on at least one low sex ratio village in each block for all the five districts. After shortlisting the villages, the team has successfully established 8 Chetna Mandalies/ Community Watch Groups (CWGs) to monitor communities’ sex-selection activities and raise awareness about related issues.

Dr. Manasi Mishra interacting with the Community members at Rohad, JhajjarTo further boost Community Mobilization for Behavioral Change, the team participated at a Rahagiri event at Gurugram with Deputy Commissioner; Mr. Vinay Pratap Singh and the Women and Child Department of the district. Here the team reached out to the audience by organizing a street theatre to raise awareness. In continuation of using Nukkad Natak for awareness generation, the team also organized 2 street plays at the CWG setup meeting at Rohad and Badli villages of Jhajjar.

CSR works on a multi-pronged approach to ensure that all stakeholders of the society are involved in working towards a holistic solution. Hence, we commenced our interaction with the youth at Educational Institutes to ensure awareness generation against gender biased sex selection at Swami Vivekananda Senior Secondary School, Mehrampur, Mahendragarh. Here, we conducted a Skit and poster making competition on BBBP theme.

In terms of Advocacy for Government Engagement at the Village and District Level in addressing BBBP programme, our team conducted the first Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI)
