The UNDEF Unit at CSR is a warmly welcomed recent addition to the organization. An interdepartmental team has been charged with the task of implementing CSR's new project:

”Enhancing the Role of Women in Strengthening Democracy”. This project is supported by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF).

Over the next two years the UNDEF Unit will be engaged in building the capacity of marginalized women to participate in state and national electoral politics to catalyze democracy and minimize the gender deficit. Key Activities will be: Advocacy & lobbying with political parties to increase seats for women within parties. Lobbying for the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill. Creating a collective of 1000 women leaders competent to drive policies and programs. (ensuring proportional regional representation). Building the leadership capacities of these women to contest and win their rightful place in national and state politics Special emphasis shall be on building leadership amongst marginalized women belonging to the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe and backward classes.
