The
benefits of engendering all aspects of our
working and social lives are substantial.
Gendered assumptions are present at all levels;
from strategic and organizational planning, to
project management, to the everyday interactions
of the workplace. The often negative impact of
these assumptions is very real, and can
undermine the efficiency and success of even the
most well-intentioned plans.
Realization
of the need to think in gendered terms is
beginning to sweep across
India
’s organisations. The gender composition of
the workforce is rapidly changing in
India
, organisations must reform themselves
correspondingly. As the agendas of human rights
and social responsibility are becoming
increasingly important; so too is the notion
that paying careful attention to gender will
improve the working environment substantially
and bring financial as well as social dividends.
CSR’s
training unit, the Gender Training Institute
(GTI), has a decade of experience imparting
trainings on gender-related issues to a wide
cross-section of society.
GTI’s
services have been enlisted by an array of
different organisations, spanning all sectors
including; government; law enforcement; agencies
of the United Nations; the corporate sector;
education; domestic and International NGOs.
A
great strength of GTI is its ability to
tailor-make programmes in collaboration with the
client to assess the specific training needs of
the intended participants. Our experienced
facilitators can address various issues in the
context of gender; from deconstructing and
familiarizing people with the basic concept of
gender itself, to how gender can be mainstreamed
in organizational planning and the broader work
environment. GTI has frequently delivered
thematic trainings on issues as diverse as
Gender and HIV/AIDS, Gender and Disaster Risk
Management, and engendering policing.
GTI’s
position within CSR enables it to tap into a
great body of knowledge and research work on
contemporary gender issues, and therefore
provide a fast and personalized service for the
client. Trainings can be conducted in both
English and Hindi, and our facilitators are
available to run sessions of any length, from a
couple of hours to five days. Our trainers are
also available on a consultancy basis, to
provide a gendered perspective on the content of
an in-house training for example.
