and Andhra Pradesh. Data regarding the police
and victims shall be collected from the Police
Training Colleges located in the capital cities
of the states selected, except in Karnataka, where
the Police Training College is located in Mysore.
However, for collection of data from other law
enforcement agencies of the state, the state headquarters
of the agencies located in the capital city shall
be contacted.

Objective (s):
- To undertake
research studies in the target states to assess
attitudes of law enforcing officials towards
issues of gender.
- Assess
and analyze the impact of training programs
(with gender focus) on the target group at the
structural, Institution and policy levels respectively.
- Develop
a gender-training module to engender the law
enforcing agencies.
Expected
Results/Outcomes Of The Project:
- Base
line data on attitudes of the untrained personnel
(may be trained on other aspects, excluding
gender) of law enforcing agencies/ institutions
is collected for the states of Delhi, Rajasthan,
Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The training need assessment is done based on
the baseline data collected.

Studying the extent of impact of gender-sensitization
training on personnel and comparison of data
on the basis of gender sensitized vis-à-vis
the untrained (un-engendered) personnel, especially
in the context of combating violence against
women and human trafficking.

Based on the training need assessments and the
impact of the gender sensitization training
programs, a module of gender sensitization training
is prepared for future training programs.
Activities

- Base line
data collection for need assessment and prevailing
gender attitudes of the law enforcement personnel
(Through Baseline Survey and Secondary Sources)
- Analyses
of the information collected and analysis of
the need assessment studies and development
of the training framework based on need assessment
- Assessment
of extent of impact of training with gender
focus, and attitude change towards gender sensitivity
at an individual, structural and policy level
of the agencies; and also their impact in restructuring
gender relations
- Development
of training module based on the pre training
attitudes, need assessment and impact of the
trainings, a training module shall be created
on gender sensitization of the staff of law
enforcement agencies, with special focus on
combating violence against women and trafficking.
