Promotion of Women's Rights through Networking, Lobbying, Advocacy and Capacity Building
 

About the Study:

This project is based on the human right approach in which emphasis is on providing minimum condition of living to the participants with dignity. It also aims at providing peaceful living and development of full potential of participants.

This project is in two parts. The first part of project endeavors at providing a life of dignity and justice to the women within the family, community and in the society at large in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The Second part of the project aims at capacity building of civil society organisations at the grass root level by imparting gender mainstreaming training so that gender could be incorporated in the development process in the Hindi Speaking Eastern Part os state of U.P. of India.

Objective:

Objectives for the Crisis Intervention Centre:

  • Developing and strengthening a network of counsellors and community leaders by providing services to women and girl children who are victims of violence.

  • To make society aware about the women's rights by organising legal literacy and awareness programs regarding social, economic, political, legal and human rights of women. 

  • To mobilise community to take initiative to stop anti-social activities like harassment of women, alcohol related violence, dowry harassment, gambling etc. in thir area.

  • To strengthen the existing networks to advocate prevention of violence against women and to provide integrated services to the victim of violence. 

  • To strengthen the existing women's collective centres as a model to enhance capacity of other community based organisations to act as pressure groups within the community.

Objectives for the Strengthening of Training Centre for Gender Mainstreaming in the development process:

  • To build the capacity of grass-root organisations to incorporate gender in the development process in Hindi Speaking Eastern Part of the State  of U.P.

  • To Establish network of grass root level community organisations to deal with any form of violence and discrimination against women. 

  • Community mobilisation and advocacy to protect women's rights by establishing strong linkage of grass root community based organisations.

  • Promotion of women's economic self reliance by building the capacity of existing Self-Help Groups.   

Project Area:

  • 6 Counselling Centres in National Capital Territory of Delhi

  • Chiraigaon Block of Varanasi District, U.P.

Duration:

Study will span over a period of 36 months.

Expected Outcome:

 

  • An atmosphere will be created in which participants will tend to oppose any form of violence against women not on individual but on community basis.

  • Participants will take direct action to deal with the issues of violence against women at home and in community with the support of the strong network created during the project to deal any kind of violence against women.

  • CSR's model counselling centre would be developed as a training centre and it would impart training to the members of community level organisations on the issue of how to effectively handle the cases of violence against women. It will replicate the learning's of effective case handling with other organisations.

  • The whole effort will help in establishing women's right in the community and society.

  • The Training Institute in Sarnath, will function with prime objective of restructuring gender relations in the Hindi-speaking belt of State of Uttar Pradesh. The focus of this training institute will be to impart training so that participants learn to integrate gender in the development process.

  • While promotion of SHG promotion, participants will be able to market their products and it will lead to economic self-reliance of participants.
