Partners and Networks
Partnerships | Memberships
On national, regional and global levels, Centre for Social Research maintains strongly networked relationships in an effort to unite like-minded actors working in the area of gender. In 2004, we founded Women Power Connect (WPC) in order to organise, coordinate and strengthen awareness and lobbying initiatives from activists and women’s groups across India. Today, WPC has more than 1,400 members throughout the country.

At the same time, CSR also cultivates associations with government bodies in order to affect concrete improvements in the formation, monitoring and implementation of legislation and related mechanisms. Most notably, Prime Minister Singh of India appointed the organisation a member of the new National Empowerment Mission for Women in 2011. CSR is also an advisor to the National Commission for Women and remains a longstanding member of the National Steering Committee on Trafficking in Women and Children, as well as the Central Advisory Board on Pre-conception and Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques.

Beyond India, we maintain active membership in regional associations such as the South Asian Network for Advocacy Against Trafficking in Persons (SANAT), SANWIP, and the Centre for Asia Pacific Women in Politics. CSR also holds consultative status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is a member of the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the UN.
