Vision:
To strive for peaceful and equitable
society in which gender justice is realized.
Mission:
To build the capacities
of women and men and restructure relationships
towards achieving gender equality, through
training, consultation, research and
information.
The
Institute endeavours to facilitate this
mission through capacity building and
training-related activities.
Grounded
in the realities of the existing social
fabric, GTI's trainings explore the
gendered interactions taking place in
broader areas of life such as culture,
economy, and politics; and more specific
areas such as in the workplace, in management,
policing, developmental activities,
industry and media.
GTI
believes that training is not an end
in itself, but part of a larger process
of learning and change. GTI hopes to
equip members of society to achieve
empowerment through a change in relationships
between men and women from the household
decision-making level right through
to policy.
GTI
believes that all people are decision-makers
and therefore change-makers in their
own context. Consequently all are potential
participants in GTI's programmes. The
participants of GTI gender training
programmes are from various different
sectors including; government, education;
law enforcement; international development;
the corporate sector; and not for profit.
Everyone
can benefit from gender sensitisation
training. It helps us to question some
of the most embedded and fundamental assumptions
we have about the world around us. Even
the most socially aware can still be
surprised by the impact of their gendered perceptions.
