Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013

The Bill lays down the definition of sexual harassment and seeks to provide a mechanism for redressing complaints. It provides for the constitution of an 'Internal Complaints Committee' at the work place and a 'Local Complaints Committee' at the district and block levels. A District Officer (District Collector or Deputy Collector), shall be responsible for facilitating and monitoring the activities under the Act.

The POCSO Act, 2012

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Bill, 2011 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on March 23, 2011. The Bill was referred to the Standing Committee on Human Resource Development (Chairperson: Shri Oscar Fernandes), which is scheduled to submit its report by June 15, 2011. The Bill seeks to protect children from offences such as sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography. India is a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child since 1992. The parties to the Convention are required to take measures to prevent children from being coerced into any unlawful sexual activity.
