Women in Distress : WHERE TO GO, WHAT TO DO

Women suffering from domestic violence in Delhi and do not know what to do ? or where to Go? the information on infrastructures both governmental and non-governmental available in Delhi to help them seek redressal for justice. If you are unsure how to proceed you can also contact us through online counseling for further information.
 
When in distress, what should you do?
 
  • Dial 100. Inform the police where exactly you are calling from and what your problem is.
  • If you have been raped, sexually harassed, physically abused or mentally tortured or teased you have the right to demand that your FIR be registered.
  • You have the right to take some friend or relative along with you at the time of filling of FIR.
  • You have the right to read the FIR, or have someone else read it to you before you sign it.
  • You also are entitled to a copy of the FIR free of cost.
  • You can also approach senior police officers or your area Magistrate if the police refuses to register your FIR.
  • You should file the FIR in concerned police station.
You must contact an Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) or Women Organisation .If you are suffering from a problem that has not been taken up by the police station directly then you can approach any of the NGO's working for women in distress.
