Nonprofit organizations in our Network

The bigger you get, the more powerful you become. Centre for Social Research has created an extensive network of nonprofit organisation's at a national and international level. From this page you can find a list of nonprofit organizations working with us. These groups of organisations work together towards achieving further empowerment of women in India and all over the world. The list of list of nonprofit organisations working together and different networks can be found from this page. CSR is the Secretariat of the South Asia Network for Women in Politics (SANWIP) which includes organizations from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. SANWIP with other Asia Pacific sub-regional organisations is part of the Centre for Asia Pacific Women in Politics (CAPWIP) which has its headquarters in Manila. CSR's Director is one of the Vice-President of CAPWIP. CSR is also the Secretariat for the Joint Action Front for Women, an open forum for women's organisations across the country. The forum has focused primarily on discussion and dialogue through meetings, conferences and seminars on women's rights.

Lobbying for women's rights

Women represent the biggest group that has been deprived of political power, economic development and social upliftment. Powerless, subjugated and exploited they have remained silent for centuries. Centre for Social Research has been actively involved in advocacy since 1985 in initiating dialogues and mobilising women in parliament, NGO leaders, trade union activities, and leaders from the grassroot level on the issue of political empowerment of women. As a national level organization, CSR organized five regional and one national level conference on issues related to women and politics during 1994-95. CSR also published a Manifesto on Women's Political Empowerment and launched a National Network on Women in Politics. Data on the representation of women in political decision making in India shows that women have been completely marginalised. Women entry into politics will be based on their perception of the world and the need of human beings, and it would surely lead them to evolve strategies to combat the basic problems of food, clothing and shelter rather than negotiating arms deals.
