Objective:

            "Making a difference through Development Projects: the CSR Context"

Centre for Social Research (CSR) is an interface between academic inquiry and social action. It is also a step towards praxis, which is inspired by the vision of a just and humane social order. We are guided by the imperatives of knowledge based collective endeavors for the emergence of such a society. For us, the continuous accumulation of information, well-informed analysis, critical social action projects, constructive interventions in policy making and strengthening of action groups through dialogue and networks are the basic dimension of such a quest.

CSR is involved in development action for conscientisation, empowerment, skill development, and employment. The efforts for mobilisation of women for collective action for their autonomy and equal rights form a core component in CSR development projects. It follows three steps.

Objectives of CSR Development Projects

     1. Target Groups: Our target groups are Women, Adolescent Girls, Girl Child, Slums, Rural Population, Urban Population, Tribal & Indigenous People, Citizens/Consumers, Law enforcement agencies, Other NGOs, Policy makers, Media, Academicians, Corporate Sector

     2. Focus Areas: Gender Sensitization Training, Violence Against Women Programmes, Awareness Generation, Campaigns, Economic Development, Field Implementation, Human Rights, Micro-Finance, Rehabilitation, Consultancy Projects, Forestry, Health/Nutrition, Income Generation, Networking, Rural Technologies, Education, Industry/Business, Marketing, Policy Advocacy, Research/Surveys

CSR Programmes: Core Components

The overall objective/s of the project is to achieve women's empowerment economic, social and political roles in society in the selected project area.

Long- term Objectives

The long-term objective of the proposed project is to contribute to the autonomous development of the women by strengthening their economic, social and political position. It attempts to create in the long run a social setting where women are mobilised to achieve the following:

     1. A life of dignity and justice within the family, community and in the larger society;

     2. Awareness of social , political and economic rights of women along with health and medical awareness;

     3. Optimization of women's access to various economic, social, legal and political resources and institutions;

     4. Acceleration of women's collective action.

Short- Term Objectives

     1. To realise the long-term objective certain short-term projects aims have seen identified

     2. To strengthen the economic position of women in the project area through training in income generating activities, by upgrading their skills in the areas of vocational work and economic management

     3. To introduce drudgery reducing technologies in existing and new areas of economic activities

     4. To promote awareness regarding saving schemes

     5. To introduce women to the available institutional formal credit in-order to be able to utilize these facilities for their economic upgradation.

     6. To facilitate women's organization through training of leadership and collective action

     7. To contribute to the empowerment process through organizing training programmes that enable women to plan and manage the activities initiated by the action units.
